Master the HR round with perfect answers to the most common fresher interview questions — TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Amazon & more.
Structure: Name + Degree + College → Key Projects/Skills → Why this company. Keep it 60-90 seconds. End with enthusiasm for the role. Example: 'I'm [Name], a final-year B.Tech CSE student from [College]. I've built a full-stack project using React and Node.js and led my department's coding club. I'm passionate about backend development and excited about the opportunity at [Company].'
Pick 2-3 strengths relevant to the job. Back each with a brief example. Good answers: problem-solving, quick learner, team collaborator, attention to detail. Avoid generic: 'hardworking' without proof.
Choose a real weakness that doesn't undermine your core job fit. Always follow with how you're improving. Example: 'I used to struggle with public speaking, but I joined my college's debate club and now present confidently.'
Research the company before the interview. Mention: their domain/products, culture, training programs (like TCS iON, Infosys InfyTQ), or recent news. Show genuine interest, not just 'good salary'.
Show ambition aligned with the company's growth path. Example: 'I see myself as a senior engineer leading a product team, having built strong expertise in [relevant tech stack]. I want to grow within [Company] as I develop.'
Connect your skills to the role's requirements. Structure: 'You need someone who can [X]. I bring [Y] — demonstrated by [Z project/achievement]. I'm also a fast learner who can contribute from day one.'
For service companies (TCS, Infosys, Wipro), say yes unless you have a genuine constraint. Hesitation here can be disqualifying. If you have constraints, be upfront and professional.
For campus placements with fixed packages, say 'I'm happy with the package offered by [Company] as per the placement guidelines.' For off-campus: research market rates, give a range, not a single number.
Always ask at least one question. Good questions: 'What does the onboarding and training process look like?' or 'What does a typical day for a fresher developer look like in your team?' Avoid asking about leaves or salary.
Read about their products, recent news, values, and tech stack. Interviewers can always tell who did homework.
For behavioral questions: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Keep stories under 2 minutes.
First impressions count. Business casual minimum. Iron your clothes the night before.
Shows confidence. Look at the interviewer, not the floor or your notes.
Never say anything negative about your college, professors, previous company, or other candidates.
A success story, a failure story (with learning), and a teamwork story. You can adapt these to many HR questions.
