Why GATE CS?

GATE CS opens doors to IIT / NIT M.Tech admissions and direct PSU recruitment (BHEL, ONGC, DRDO, BARC). PSUs select directly based on GATE score, offering starting salaries of 6–12 LPA. Many private companies (Microsoft, Google, Amazon) also consider GATE scores for internships and research roles.

GATE CS Pro Tips

Previous Year Questions are Gold

GATE follows predictable patterns. Solve all PYQs from 2000–2024 at least once. Many questions repeat in slightly modified form.

Discrete Math is the Wild Card

Most students underestimate Discrete Math. It has the highest weightage and is consistently tricky. Start it early and revise regularly.

Negative Marking: ⅓ for MCQs

MCQs carry negative marking. MSQs (multi-select) do not. NAT (numerical answer) has no negative marking — always attempt these.

Speed + Accuracy

You have ~2.7 min/question. Practice under timed conditions. Leave hard questions for later and solve NAT questions first.
